The Magic Lantern is Glasgow's independent film night that showcases innovative short films, combined with question and answer sessions with filmmakers, writers and programmers, to generate discussion on the state of short film.
Screenings are held at the Centre of Contemporary Arts, Glasgow.
We are open to submissions of all short films (under 30mins) from filmmakers working in Scotland and beyond.
We support short film as an valid art form in its own right, and not just as a prelude to feature filmmaking.We seek to inspire the thriving short filmmaking and artists’ communities throughout Scotland by immersing the very best of local talent within an innovative programme of international work. We particularly focus on work that questions the boundaries between narrative-based and more experimental filmmaking.
